Pentecost Sunday 8th June: Focus: Let us ask the Lord to give us hearts that are docile to the work of the Spirit in us. – The Holy Spirit transformed the disciples into courageous witnesses of the Resurrection of our Lord. It is this same Spirit that we have received at baptism & whose fullness is given to us at confirmation so that, like those first disciples, we might build up the Church. But submitting to the power of the Holy Spirit can be challenging & we can be tempted to resist. Let us ask the Lord to give us hearts that are docile to the work of the Spirit in us.

A PRAYER FOR OUR EARTH
Loving God, We thank you for the gift of creation, for the beauty & wonder of the earth, & for all its resources. We acknowledge that we have not always been good stewards of this planet, & that our actions have often caused harm to your creation.
Forgive us for our carelessness, our greed, & our indifference to the needs of others & the well-being of the earth. Help us to see the interconnectedness of all things & to recognise that we are all part of your creation, & that we are called to care for it. Grant us the wisdom to understand the urgency of the climate crisis & the courage to make the necessary changes in our lives to protect your creation.
Inspire our leaders to make decisions that are just & sustainable, & to work together for the common good. May we all live more simply, consume less, & share more, so that future generations may also enjoy the beauty & bounty of your creation.
We pray for the healing of our planet & for the restoration of your creation to its original harmony. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son, who loved all creation & taught us to love one another. Amen.
