2nd Sunday of Lent 16th March: Focus: Stand firm in faith. – This season of Lent prepares us for Easter, when we will celebrate the Lord’s resurrection. In today’s Gospel Peter, John, & James get a glimpse of Jesus’ glorified body. This is the type of body that Paul tells the Philippians we will one day have, as long as we stand firm in our faith – not only in Christ’s resurrection, but also in his cross.
17th March - What can we learn from St Patrick today?
- To entrust ourselves, our Church, our country to God's protective care.
- To have full confidence in the Lord's healing presence and power. 'The Lord's is the earth and its fullness, the world and all its peoples' Ps 23.
- To give thanks for God's special care & call to each of us, knowing that God took the initiative in our vocation & will sustain us day by day.
- To be devoted to reading the Gospels so that we take on the mind & heart of Christ Jesus and make decisions according to the mind of Christ.
- To be receptive to God's will in all our trials, to trust him unreservedly, God uses these trials to shape our hearts & conform us to Christ Jesus.
- To be alert to all the opportunities we are given each day to proclaim the Gospel, & to know that whatever good we do is through God's boundless grace.
- To believe in the importance of intercession for all people at this time.
- Towards the end of his Confession Patrick makes perfectly clear that he 'never had any reason, beyond the Gospel & its promises, ever to return to the people from whom I had formerly, barely escaped.'

A.M.C.E. group are seeking funding from the Heritage Council to carry out a graveyard survey at Court Abbey as part of our obligation to the Adopt a Monument project. We also intend to use an application that would allow us to record the information on gravestones affected by weathering that has resulted in some wording being illegible to the naked eye & another system that could identify the location of forgotten burials or those whose grave markers have been removed over time. All information gathered will then be recorded on the national Historic Graves website.
Trócaire is the Irish language word for “compassion”. Since it was founded by the Irish Catholic Bishops in 1973, Trócaire has put the compassion of the Irish people into action. For over 50 years, we’ve brought about lasting change & transformed the lives of millions across continents. This incredible impact is made possible by the generosity of the Irish people, who support our work through annual initiatives like the Trócaire Box Appeal & by volunteering their time to create a positive difference in the world. Last year Trócaire brought support & relief to 1.58 million people living in poverty, conflict & injustice. You can help, please take a Trócaire box (available at the door) & you can hand in your contribution at any of the Easter Ceremonies. Thank you.

Pope Francis has invited us this Lent to "journey in hope together". A short-term pledge is available www.pioneerassociation.org for parishioners who wish to become a "pilgrim of hope" for people who are living under the shadow of addiction.
