8th Sunday in Ordinary Time 2nd Feb: Focus: The sting of death has been vanished by the victory of Christ. In the second reading we hear that death is no longer something to be feared, for it has been swallowed up by the victory of Christ: Where, O death, is your sting? Jesus’ life, death, & resurrection have transformed death into the road to eternal life. Therefore, in this life, we must labour with the steadfast hope of attaining heaven, certain that if we strive to serve the Lord our work is not in vain.

LENT: Lent is an opportunity to deepen our commitment to God.  The three Lenten disciplines of prayer, fasting, & almsgiving are practical ways we express our intention to return to the Lord.

BAPTISM: We welcome into the Christian community through the Sacrament of Baptism Zoe Grace Gillooly, Cloondrihara.

Trócaire is the Irish language word for “compassion”. Since it was founded by the Irish Catholic Bishops in 1973, Trócaire has put the compassion of the Irish people into action. For over 50 years, we’ve brought about lasting change & transformed the lives of millions across continents. This incredible impact is made possible by the generosity of the Irish people, who support our work through annual initiatives like the Trócaire Box Appeal & by volunteering their time to create a positive difference in the world. Last year Trócaire brought support & relief to 1.58 million people living in poverty, conflict & injustice. You can help, please take a Trócaire box (available at the door) & you can hand in your contribution at any of the Easter Ceremonies. Thank you.
