Inaugurating the Jubilee Year on Dec 28^th: Pope Francis has announced that the coming year will be a Jubilee Year, with Pilgrims of Hope as its theme. Bishop Doran will inaugurate the Jubilee Year in the Cathedral of the Annunciation & St. Nathy, at 6pm on Saturday 28^th Dec, beginning with a gathering in St Brigid’s Hall (Phoenix Centre), & in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sligo at 12noon on Sunday 29^th Dec, beginning with a gathering in the Gillooly Hall. Representative from parishes across the Dioceses are invited to attend. You are invited to assemble for this at the Phoenix Centre, or Gillooley Hall. You may attend the ceremonies at the Cathedral most convenient to you.

Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, January 11/12^th: invitation to families who have had a baby baptised during 2024 to bring the baby to the church for a blessing on that Saturday evening or Sunday.

Sunday February 9^th, at 3pm Bishop Doran will lead a liturgy of blessing in the Cathedral, Ballaghaderreen for all engaged couples & married couples celebrating significant wedding anniversaries. Refreshments in St Nathy’s College, following the liturgy of blessing.

Assisted suicide or euthanasia: A recent poll in the UK has found that public support for assisted suicide or euthanasia falls to just 11 per cent after people find out what the process actually involves. This is very telling & shows how important it is to educate people on assisted suicide & the consequences of legalising it. Life Institute currently has a Don't Assisted Suicide campaign going with the aim to provide information on the consequences of assisted suicide in a bid to stop it from being legalised in Ireland.

Last week, a UK bill, known as the Complications from Abortion Bill, which seeks to ensure that would require for medical departments to publish an annual report on medical complications resulting from an abortion, has passed the second reading & will proceed to Committee Stage. This is a positive step in recognising that abortion is not as "safe" as the abortion lobby would like us to believe.

Also this week, Robbie Williams has hailed his ex-girlfriend Nicole Appleton as "brave" for allowing the story of how she was pressured to abort their baby be shared in his upcoming biopic, Better Man. Williams has described the abortion as "traumatic" & "triggering" for both himself & Appleton, bringing to light the devastating consequences abortion really brings.

Cloonacool Drama: Laughter is what we all need, especially when it's comedy from Cloonacool Players. Yes, the group is back in rehearsal & has a great cast of firm favourites preparing to entertain you in John B. Keane's classic comedy 'Moll' - to make you laugh & laugh.
