3rd Sunday of Advent 15th Dec: Focus: The Lord rejoices over us. – According to the prophet Zephaniah, the Lord rejoices – yes rejoices – over us in gladness, & St Paul says to have no anxiety at all. If we trust in the unconditional love God has for us, our hearts & minds will know the true peace that only he can give.

Christmas Carol Service: In conjunction with C. of I. in Achonry Church at 7:30pm on Tuesday 17th December.

Inaugurating the Jubilee Year on Dec 28th: Pope Francis has announced that the coming year will be a Jubilee Year, with Pilgrims of Hope as its theme. Bishop Doran will inaugurate the Jubilee Year in the Cathedral of the Annunciation & St. Nathy, at 6pm on Saturday 28th Dec, beginning with a gathering in St Brigid’s Hall (Phoenix Centre), & in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sligo at 12noon on Sunday 29th Dec, beginning with a gathering in the Gillooly Hall. Representative from parishes across the Dioceses are invited to attend. You are invited to assemble for this at the Phoenix Centre, or Gillooley Hall. People from either Diocese may attend the ceremonies at the Cathedral most convenient to them.

Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, January 11/12th: invitation to families who have had a baby baptised during 2024 to bring the baby to the church for a blessing on that Saturday evening or Sunday.

Sunday February 9th, at 3pm Bishop Doran will lead a liturgy of blessing in the Cathedral, Ballaghaderreen for all engaged couples & married couples celebrating significant wedding anniversaries. Refreshments in St Nathy’s College, following the liturgy of blessing.

THREE HILLS CAFÉ (beside Mullinabreena Church)

To maintain the success of the Three Hills Café we would ask households to commit to supporting at least once every few weeks. Café is open Saturday & Sunday 10am-2pm. Thank you for your continued support.

25 Drive: In St Nathy’s Hall every Friday at 8:30pm

St Nathy’s Ladies' Annual Tractor Run: Sunday 15th Dec. This year we are taking to the dark & lighting up our tractors to get in the Christmas spirit. Registration (€20 per tractor) at 3pm in Bunnanadden Community Centre before hitting the road at 4pm. We will be returning to the Centre with a very special guest, who will help us give away lots of treats & prizes, including a prize for best lit tractor. 

Cloonacool Drama: Laughter is what we all need, especially when it's comedy from Cloonacool Players. Yes, the group is back in rehearsal & has a great cast of firm favourites preparing to entertain you in John B. Keane's classic comedy 'Moll' - to make you laugh & laugh.  

Apostolic Work Achonry/Elphin Dioceses, would like to get in touch with any Parish group helping Missionaries from their area, with the possibility of helping that Missionary with our "Easter Chicken Fund". For more information please contact, Mary Lee, 087 135 3780 or Margaret Haughey 087 207 2400.

The parish Offertory Envelopes for 2025; are available at the church doors. Sincere thanks to those all who are using the envelopes, these contributions have ensured that the parish has not fallen into financial difficulty. Using the envelopes also facilitates the parish in availing of the Revenue tax-back, which is a great financial benefit for our parish. Your parish envelope contribution is our only source of funding for the running of our parish & the maintenance & upkeep of our two churches & our parish buildings.  If you require a box of envelopes, please let me know & I will add you to the parish database. Your support to the various collections throughout the year is very much appreciated. Thank you.

You may feel isolated, alone, bereaved or far from family. SeniorLine's older volunteers are trained to listen, to support & refer to other helpful services if necessary. So don't be alone, lift the phone.  SeniorLine 1800 80 45 91, no problem too big or too small. 

Bereavement Support Group: Life after a bereavement can feel empty & lonely. Spending time with others who know the experience can be helpful. Trained facilitators conduct a weekly Bereavement Support Group meeting at the Family Centre, Knock at 11am each Wednesday. More info from Monica Morley on 094-9375320.

Caring for the elderly: Have you recently retired or have your children now left home? Home Instead are always looking to recruit CAREGivers. Whether you can work a couple of hours a week or want to work full time, we would like to hear from you. Experience and FETAC/QQI level 5 qualification in healthcare is an advantage but not compulsory, as training is provided. Please contact Seyi or Ciara on (071) 9317051 for further information or email recruitment.sligo@homeinstead.ie.
