30th Sunday in Ordinary Time 27th Oct: Focus: Have courage to follow the Lord. – In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks Bartimaeus, What do you want me to do for you? Bartimaeus wanted his sight, & the Lord granted it. Bartimaeus then followed him on the way. As we encounter the Lord in the Eucharist, let us ask him for the courage to not only Ask him for what we need but to follow him on the way when he answers.

Safeguarding: To comply with Safeguarding legalisation every parish must conduct Garda vetting every three years. Thank you to all who volunteer in the various ministries in our parish. I would ask that all outstanding forms and documents be returned to Parochial House ASAP, & I will forward them to director of safeguarding. Garda Vetting must be completed by November 1st.
The parish Offertory Envelopes for 2025; are available at the church doors. Sincere thanks to those all who are using the envelopes, these contributions have ensured that the parish has not fallen into financial difficulty. Using the envelopes also facilitates the parish in availing of the Revenue tax-back, which is a great financial benefit for our parish. Your parish envelope contribution is our only source of funding for the running of our parish & the maintenance & upkeep of our two churches & our parish buildings. If you require a box of envelopes, please let me know & I will add you to the parish database. Your support to the various collections throughout the year is very much appreciated. Thank you.
All Souls Indulgences
An indulgence, applicable only to the souls in purgatory, is granted to the faithful, who devoutly visit a cemetery & pray, even if only mentally, for the departed. The indulgence is plenary each day from the 1st to 8th November; on other days of the year it is partial.
A plenary indulgence, applicable only to the souls in purgatory, is granted to the faithful, who on All Souls Day [November 2nd {as well as on the Sunday preceding or following, & on All Saints' Day}] piously visit a church & recite one Our Father & the Creed.
To acquire a plenary indulgence it is necessary also to fulfill the following 3 conditions: sacramental Confession, Eucharistic communion, & prayer for the intention of the Holy Father. The 3 conditions may be fulfilled several days before or after the performance of the visit; it is, however, fitting that communion be received & the prayer for the intention of the Holy Father be said on the same day as the visit.
The condition of praying for the intention of the Holy Father is fully satisfied by reciting one Our Father & one Hail Mary. A plenary indulgence can be acquired only once in the course of the day.
