29th Sunday in Ordinary Time 20th Oct: Focus: The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve & give his life as a ransom for many. – In contrast to the pressures to seek power, comfort, & fame, our Church proclaims humble service. We are called to gaze on our king, enthroned on a cross, ornamented with wounds. We are told in no uncertain terms that the only path to greatness in the kingdom of God is the path of self-giving love.

SYMPATHY: We remember in our prayers at this time: Wilfred Brennan, Ballymote, (brother of Nathy), Louis Doddy, (brother of Val & Eddie)

May the Souls of the faithful departed rest in peace

Your parish envelope contribution is our only source of funding for the running of our parish & the maintenance & upkeep of our two churches & our parish buildings.  If you require a box of envelopes, please let me know & I will add you to the parish database. “A world at prayer is a world at peace”

All Souls Indulgences

An indulgence, applicable only to the souls in purgatory, is granted to the faithful, who devoutly visit a cemetery & pray, even if only mentally, for the departed. The indulgence is plenary each day from the 1st to 8th November; on other days of the year it is partial.

A plenary indulgence, applicable only to the souls in purgatory, is granted to the faithful, who on All Souls Day [November 2nd {as well as on the Sunday preceding or following, & on All Saints' Day}] piously visit a church & recite one Our Father & the Creed.

To acquire a plenary indulgence it is necessary also to fulfill the following 3 conditions: sacramental Confession, Eucharistic communion, & prayer for the intention of the Holy Father. The 3 conditions may be fulfilled several days before or after the performance of the visit; it is, however, fitting that communion be received & the prayer for the intention of the Holy Father be said on the same day as the visit.

The condition of praying for the intention of the Holy Father is fully satisfied by reciting one Our Father & one Hail Mary. A plenary indulgence can be acquired only once in the course of the day.
