We shared many interests, stories & life experience. I gained a true friend”. Can you spare a couple of hours per week? A little time goes along way. MISSIONARY SISTERS OF THE HOLY ROSARY

The Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary (The Killeshandra Nuns) was founded one hundred years ago in March 1924 by Bishop J. Shanahan CSSp to bring the Gospel message to the women of Southern Nigeria. Sisters are presently on mission in Brazil, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, South Africa, Sierra Leone, the USA and Zambia.
What we do

HEALTH CARE: healing the sick, building healthy communities
EDUCATION: key to human development at all levels
PASTORAL CARE: The Word of God alive in people's lives
SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT: in cities, villages & rural communities
CARE FOR THE EARTH: loving the planet

REFUGEES: reaching out to street children, fighting against human trafficking

REBUILDING shattered lives after devastation of war & disease.
PRAYER is central to our lives. It is God's work we are doing, not our own.

I worked in both Zambia (Central Africa) & Ghana (West Africa).  As I am a teacher by profession, I taught English, History & Religious Education in a Girls' Secondary School in Zambia. I then moved to Ghana where I taught Religious Education for one year in a large mixed Secondary School before transferring to a Teacher Training College where I taught English. After returning to Ireland, I served on the Regional Administration Team before becoming involved in Mission Promotion. I am again part of the Regional Adm Team as well as continuing with Mission Promotion which involves visiting a different diocese each year under the auspices of AMRI (Association of Missionaries & Religious in Ireland).
