2^nd Sunday of Lent 25^th Feb: Focus: This is my beloved Son. Listen to him. – We do not have a God who sits enthroned, looking down from a great distance to arbitrarily ask us to do this or not do that. No, we have a God who loves us enough that we can trust him completely, as Abraham did. We have a God who did not hold back anything, not even his beloved Son, to lead us to the goodness he desires for us.

World Day of Prayer: On Friday 1^st March at 8:30pm in Mullinabreena Church. This “Worldwide Service” was prepared by the Women of Palestine. All are welcome. 

Holy Hour: Prayer & Reflection for Ministers/Readers of the Word & Eucharistic Ministers will take place in the Church of St John Evangelist, Tubbercurry on Sunday 10^th March 4-5pm. 

Adoration in Mullinabreena Church 4-7pm on Tuesdays for the month of March.

Masses during Lent: Mass Monday to Friday 10am in Mullinabreena, & 8pm in Achonry. To save any confusion the Saturday vigil Masses from the beginning of Lent will also be at 8pm.

Achonry National School: Enrolment forms for 2024-25 are now available at the church door. If you are interested please take a form with you, fill in the details & return it to the school.

25 Drive: In St Nathy’s Hall every Friday at 8:30pm.

Achonry Farmers Market & Café at the Hub: We would like to encourage people to support both our Community Café & our Local Farmers Market. These amenities offer ideal opportunities for people to get together & are instrumental in creating a dynamic & cohesive Community for us all to live in. Café is open Saturday &

TRÓCAIRE: Many homes have now received their Trócaire boxes. We are very grateful for your continued support. With Lent now upon us, we would like to share with you some details of Trócaire’s Lenten Campaign for 2024. This year our focus country is Malawi. Malawi is often referred to as the warm heart of Africa. It is a country with extremely high levels of poverty, where life is already a struggle for many. Climate change means flooding & droughts are becoming both more extreme & unpredictable. People are losing their homes, their livelihoods & even their lives. In these situations Trócaire is working for water justice as a response to the effects of climate change. We also have a family resource that brings together Scripture, Laudato Sí’ & Laudato Deum. Anam Cara, the organisation that supports bereaved parents will meet Wed 28^th Feb at 7:15pm in the T. F Royal Hotel, Castlebar. The Poor Clares in Galway are holding a Monastic Experience Day for young women who might be interested in their way of life. The event will take place from 10am to 5pm Saturday 2^nd March. The day is designed to help those who may be exploring the possibility of a religious vocation to find out more about the Poor Clare way of life. Anyone wishing to book a place should email vocations@poorclares.ie 

The Synodal Journey was launched in October 2021. Many parishioners attended gatherings in our Diocese (& throughout the country) to share their ideas about the Church. These were very helpful meetings & I appreciate the efforts people made to come along & join in the conversations. In order to feedback to parishioners on what has happened since, a very helpful video has been produced.  It is entitled: "The Synodal Pathway, the Journey So Far..." This can be found on our Diocesan Website, www.achonrydiocese.org. I hope this will be helpful in outlining the process so far & charting the next steps on the journey.
