The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph 31st Dec: Focus: Imitate the Holy Family, the true model of life. – Even in their holiness, Mary, Joseph, & their child Jesus were not exempt from suffering, & the difficulties of life. Yet they never wavered in their commitment to God or to each other. Theirs was a home where the child Jesus grew & became strong, filled with wisdom; & the favour of God was upon him. Let us strive to make our homes a haven for others to grow in love, virtue, & favour.

The Epiphany of the Lord 6th Jan: Focus: With Christ’s help we can be his light for others. – We are not the source of the light that a world in darkness needs desperately. Instead, we must receive Jesus, the Light of the World, so that we can in turn share it. In the first reading we hear: Then you shall be radiant … your heart shall throb & overflow. Jesus has come to give all the love we need, all the wisdom called for, all the virtue necessary to be the light to others.

SYMPATHY: We remember in our prayers at this time: Mary Fahey, Ballinacarrow, (sister-in-law of Anna Gilmartin, Rinbane), Tommy Howe, Attymass, (father of Finola McCauley, Ballyglass), Sylvester Gilligan, Keash, (brother of Oliver Gilligan, Dohern)

May the Souls of the faithful departed rest in peace

Happy New Year
