25th Sunday in Ordinary Time 24th Sept: Focus: God rewards generously those who place their trust in him. – In the Gospel, the workers hired first entered into a legal contract with the owner. Those hired later were promised what is just. They trusted in the owner’s concept of ‘just.’ Those hired last weren’t promised anything, yet they went to work. The landowner was generous to all who laboured for him, giving to all what he chose to give.

PARISH OFFERTORY COLLECTION ENVELOPES

The parish offertory boxes for 2024 are available at the church doors. Your continued generosity is greatly appreciated. A sincere thanks to those who are using the envelopes, standing orders or direct payments. These contributions have ensured that the parish has not fallen into financial difficulty, despite a significant drop in the number of offertory boxes distributed in the past ten years, down from 250 to 160. This money enables us to maintain the parish churches to a high standard. It is still heartening that many are keen to see our church renewed & refreshed. Using the envelopes also facilitates the parish in availing of the Revenue tax-back, which is a great financial benefit for our parish. The Offertory Collection money is used to maintain the two churches in the parish & the parochial house. This covers the cost of heating, lighting, insurance, painting & decorating, the diocesan levy, church requisites & stationary needs, & general maintenance. If you would like to contribute to upkeep of our parish, please let me know & I will issue you with an offertory box & add your name to the parish database. Last year a new roof was completed on Mullinabreena Church, this was a big undertaking, but necessary. Again, a most sincere thank you to everyone who has responded so generously to this project. I thank you for your support to the various church collections, & for your ongoing weekly support to our parish. It is very much appreciated. God Bless. Fr. Peter.

Good News!

Bishop Paul visited the Diocese of Ogoja in Nigeria last July. The first Bishop of Ogoja was Bishop Thomas McGettrick from our Diocese (Killavil, Bunninadden), who was appointed in 1955.  During his visit, Bishop Paul met with the current Bishop of Ogoja, Bishop Donatus Akpan. An agreement was made for two seminarians to come from Ogoja to complete their theology studies in Maynooth. Following Ordination, they will commit to serving for ten years in the Diocese of Achonry before returning to Ogoja. The two seminarians, Patrick and Israel, are now beginning their studies in Maynooth. We are very grateful to Bishop Akpan and the Diocese of Ogoja for supporting this new venture. Please keep Patrick and Israel in your prayers as they begin this new chapter in their lives.
