2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time 15th Jan: Focus: God’s call is an invitation to service, honour, & holiness. – Today’s readings centre on God’s call. All of those called – Isaiah, Paul, Sosthenes, & John the Baptist – have a special vocation from God to bear witness to his name & foster holiness among his people. God equips those so chosen with grace, honour, & strength to carry out their mission. He calls & equips us, too.

Parish Pastoral Councils: On February 5th, it is hoped that each parish in the diocese will have its Parish Pastoral Council in place. These will be commissioned by the Bishop at the Cathedral. Over the following months, they will receive some basic training for their work. It will be part of their task to listen carefully to the needs of the people in their parishes & to discern the best ways to respond to those needs. Their work will be undertaken as a partnership, a group exercise, working with all members of the parish to enrich their lives of faith as a community.
You will be regularly briefed about the work of the PPC in your parish through the parish newsletter & on the parish website.
