21st Sunday in Ordinary Time 22nd August: Focus: The immense love God has for his people prompts us to love in return. – The theme for today’s readings is fidelity between God & his people. How loyal are we to Jesus? Are we able to take Peter’s words as our own? Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life? How well do we even know the words of Jesus? Let us recommit ourselves to deepening our knowledge & love of the Lord.

Achonry Mullinabreena Community Enhancement Group will host a Family Sports Day at Knocknashee Walking Trail on Sunday August 22nd from 2p.m. - 5p.m. Traditional Sport Day Races for the young & older generations to enjoy. Can your family conquer the hill in the fastest time? Live music to get you dancing at Lughnasa. Refreshments served & some harvest treats instore. Hope you can make it.

52nd International Eucharistic Congress (IEC):

Was postponed in 2020. It will be held this year from 5th to 12th September in Budapest, Hungary. The IEC is a gathering of people every four years, somewhere in the world, which aims to promote an awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life & mission of the Catholic Church. The theme of IEC2021 is All My Springs are in You (Psalm 87) & refers to God as the source (or spring) of life for his people.

NW Simon Community 13th Annual Sleep Out - On Fri 1st Oct, we are calling on the people of North West & beyond to swap their beds for sleeping bags for one night only by taking part in the Virtual Sleep Out in your own garden or office car park.

HSE Living Well Programme: The HSE are running a health programme free of charge for people living with a long term health condition (mental & physical). This helps people develop the skills & confidence to live a healthy & happy life. Foundation in Counselling course again this Autumn. It is a One-Year Part-time course which will begin 7th October and will run for 26 Thursday nights from 7pm to 10pm until 20th May 2022. There are also two Saturdays from 10am to 5pm to attend. Some people complete the course as a first step to train as a counsellor while others participate for their own self development or to help them to cope better in their workplace or family life.

The cost of the course is €1200 which can be paid in instalments. There is a deposit of €100 required to secure a place on the course and this will be deducted from the full price. Achonry Farmers Market: The Farmers Market continues every Saturday from 10am to 1pm in Nace O'Dowd Park. Thank you to the large number of volunteers who make this happen. We are appealing to members of the community to support the market to ensure its continued success. Drop in for a cup of tea/coffee & meet the locals in this friendly environment. The market has a new & unused stall & if anyone has any items for the stall please drop them in to the market. Thank you

Maya Jean Gormalley and the Gavin Glynn Foundation

In recent weeks David and Lorraine Gormalley have experienced any parent's worst nightmare with the confirmation of a brain tumor diagnosis for their beautiful eight year old daughter Maya Jean. Maya Jean is currently undergoing treatment in Germany with support from the Gavin Glynn foundation.

We have set up a gofundme page to raise funds for the Gavin Glynn foundation which is supporting the Gormalley family with relocation to Essen Germany for Maya Jeans cancer treatment. All funds raised will go directly to the Gavin Glynn Foundation.  Thank you for the amazing financial support received so far.
