3rd Sunday of Easter 18th April: Focus: The risen Christ forgives our sins & advocates for us before the Father. – In breaking open the Scriptures for the disciples, Jesus dispels their greatest fears & doubts & gently brings them into the fullness of true peace. Because of this they now have the courage to proclaim him before the world – to become his witnesses. Courage & peace are the hallmarks of the believer, & are the gifts necessary to face the challenges of this world.

Covid 19: The number of deaths worldwide is now over 3,020,000 & Republic of Ireland deaths at 4,831. That’s 83,000 deaths this week. The number of deaths in Ireland this week is 62. The total number of positive cases in Ireland is 243,120, so 1 in every 20.4 has now tested positive in Ireland.

 

PhD Scholarship in Theology & the early Irish Church, Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin

Proposals which focus on the Irish influence in Europe, its migration through monastic networks in continental Europe, & the influence of the gospel of St John on the Irish church & diaspora will be particularly welcome. The scholarship will cover academic fees & offer a stipend of €13,000 per annum for four years. Some funding will also be available to help with travel for research, or to conferences. This scholarship, offered thanks to generous philanthropic funding, seeks to develop further the Loyola Institute's interest in scholarship in the area of theology & the early Irish Church. TCD is ideally situated for such scholarship. Applications are invited from those interested in theology & in medieval history. If the successful applicant is lacking expertise in either of these areas, they will be asked to complete appropriate modules from the MPhil in Christian Theology, &/or from the MPhil in Medieval Studies.
