24th Sunday in Ordinary Time 15th September: Focus: We are all sons & daughters of our merciful Creator God. – God the Father shows remarkable mercy to us when we stray from following him. When we sin, we are called to repentance & to accept God’s gracious mercy. By the same token, when others stray, we are to welcome them back with joy when they repent. We are all sons & daughters of the same merciful God.

GOLDEN JUBILEE: Congratulations & best wishes to Anna & Francie Gilmartin, Rinbane. They celebrated the Golden Jubilee of their marriage on Friday with Mass in their home followed by a celebration in Ballymote.    

We wish them many more years of health & happiness.

Foundation in Counselling course: At the Newman Institute, Ballina, starts on 10th October. The course runs for 26 Thursday nights from 7 to 10pm & 2 Saturdays from 10am to 5pm. The cost is €1200 which can be paid in instalments. There is a deposit of €100 required to secure a place. Sligo Cathedral Parish Mission 23rd - 29th Sept focusing on our beautiful planet & the obligation God has placed on us to be responsible stewards of His creation. Over this week we celebrate our ‘common home’ with Fr Liam Lawton in concert; have nightly presentations in Gillooly Hall with renown speakers; look forward with the students of our schools & colleges & present a workshop offering practical advice as to how we can all make a difference. All welcome to join this project of hope for the future!

Cloonacool Sheep Festival: This will highlight the theme of Sheep Farming & the traditions for which the region is renowned. The event will include activities such as sheep classes, novelty events, & exhibits & displays on the theme. A dance, with music by John Hogan, opens the festival on the weekend of 21st & 22nd September in Cloonacool Village.

Bereavement Support Group. Life after a bereavement can feel empty & lonely. This Support Group meets at the Family Centre, Knock every Wednesday at 11am. Anyone is welcome to drop in any week. Further info from Monica Morley on 094-9375320.

Tubbercurry FRC: Mother Baby Group: The group meets in the Family Resource Centre (FRC) every Wednesday from 10.30am. The group is informal & mums come for a chat & a cuppa. On occasion activities take place or guest speakers are invited to talk to the group on topics of interest. The Parent & Toddler Group: meet every Monday 10.30am-12.00. This is a fun group for both parents/guardians/carers & their little ones. Fun activities include circle time, singing, arts & crafts, sensory play & much more. The group resumes on Monday 16th Sept.
