14th Sunday in Ordinary Time 7th July: Focus: The Lord sends labourers to proclaim the kingdom. – Jesus appointed, instructed & sent seventy-two disciples to proclaim the kingdom of God. With his authorit, they were able to spread the Gospel message, & it continues today. For we, too, are called, appointed, instructed & sent with authority. Like the early disciples, we are not sent alone: we have the Church as mother, & each other as co-travellers on the journey.

The unjust & scurrilous comments of the Taoiseach during the week were ‘rich’ coming from a medical doctor with a very warped view who promotes immoral relationships & death of the baby in the womb, (the womb is the only place where a baby can be legally put to death in this country). What a legacy for anyone to be leaving after them. An apology coming from him is nothing other than a forced statement, it means nothing. He said what he said & the parties that support him are equally as bad. He need look no further than in the mirror if he’s looking for a sinner to compare with someone else. Remember, it was only the 4th May when he said “this is one I got wrong” when he was last grovelling through an apology over his remarks about the mortuary in Waterford, & before that it was an apology for the fiasco of the household & water charges.
