6th Sunday in Ordinary Time 11th Feb: Focus: Sin separates us from God. – In the same way that leprosy separated people from their communities until they were healed, sin separates us from God until we ask for forgiveness & healing. Let us have the faith of the leper in today’s Gospel, & believe in the healing words & touch of Jesus when it is our time to need forgiveness.

SYMPATHY: We remember in our prayers at this time: Margaret Gormalley, Castlecawley, (nee Coleman, Carniara), Helen McCarrick, Cloonbaniff, whose anniversary occurs at this time, her anniversary Mass will be celebrated later.

May the Souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

LENT: The time to repent & turn back to God is now. The Gospel tells us how to approach that renewal of our lives. It puts before us the remedy in prayer, fasting & almsgiving. These three strands of Lenten observance are as ancient as Christianity itself. There is no substitute for them.‘Fasting is the soul of prayer, mercy is the lifeblood of fasting. If we have not all three together, we have nothing,’ St Peter Chrysologus.

Join with people all over Ireland in the Lenten Crusade for Life. Why not offer up your prayer & fasting during Lent for the Protection of the Unborn? Perhaps you may like to say the rosary each day, do some form of fasting or have Mass offered for the protection of Life. Starting February 14th finishes April 1st. For flyers on the crusade, please contact: Human Life International (Ireland) on 094-9375993 or email: mail@humanlife.ie
