The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph 31st Dec: Focus: Families are the domestic church, cultivating a family life centered on Christ. – Most people first experience faith within their family, where it is planted & nurtured. Mary & Joseph nurtured Jesus in the ways of faith, & helped him to grow in wisdom through their love & commitment to him & to each other, & through their obedience to Scripture & Tradition. It is through our trust in God & our love for one another that we bring Christ to life in our own families & communities.

SYMPATHY: We remember in our prayers at this time: Paddy Joe Hunt, Mullinabreena South.

May the Souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

As always & especially after Christmas, the call goes out; Blood is in short supply & everyone who can should consider donating. It is a wonderful act of caring for others; a genuine gift of life to a person in desperate need. Someone will live because you give. Better than any other gift given at Christmas Within three weeks of donation you can be assured your blood will have assisted in saving someone’s life. No greater gift is possible.

Save the 8th Amendment: On the 28th December we celebrated the Feast of the Holy Innocents, all the infants that were put to death by Herod & his armies around the time of the birth of Jesus. Herod’s armies are now in many countries throughout the world & their target is no longer the infant but the baby in the womb. Please save our most vulnerable – the baby in the womb – by saving the 8th amendment.

Towards Peace: Christmas & New Year is often a time when we are reminded of our deeper selves & deepest hopes, & deepest pain. The vision of Towards Peace is to provide a safe supportive space for people who have been affected by abuse in a Church context, & who are seeking to explore the spiritual impact of the abuse. If you have been abused & would like a space to reflect on the impact of the trauma of abuse on your own relationship with God & spirituality, Towards Peace is here for you: www.towardspeace.ie / 01 505 3028.

Child Protection Policy for Achonry Diocese: See posters at Church door.
