Choir Practice: In Mullinabreena Church on Monday 8th May at 8:30pm in preparation for the forthcoming First Holy Communion on 13th May. All schoolchildren involved in music & singing are asked to come along, & new adult members are always welcome.

4th Sunday of Easter 7th May: Focus: Christ is the very centre of our faith. He is our shepherd & we listen to his voice; through him we enter into the fullness of life. – We who belong to Jesus by virtue of our baptism now share in his mission of redemption. How we prepare for this task is important. We need to strive for repentance, lead lives of prayer & patient endurance, & desire to listen attentively to his voice.

SYMPATHY: We remember in our prayers at this time: Fiona Dunleavy, Drumcondra & Galway, (niece-in-law of Johnny Dunleavy, Rinbane), Kitty Moore, Borrisokane, (sister of the late Kevin Gormalley, Castlecawley), Tommy Regan, Sligo & Carrowkeel.

May the Souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

Ordination to Diaconate: Congratulations to Rev Emmet O’Dowd, (son of Seamus & Fiona), ordained a deacon of the Church on Sunday 30th April in Rome for the Diocese of Aberdeen, Scotland.

The word ‘deacon’ means ‘one who serves.’ Jesus tells us: “I have not come to be served but to serve & to give my life as a ransom for many” (Mk 10:45). The Lord is the diakonos, the servant of all. When a man is ordained Transitional Deacon, he enters upon the last stage in his preparation for the Priesthood. The office of Deacon however, is far more than just another milestone on the road to Priesthood. Deacons are called to do the will of God generously & to serve Him & others in love & joy. We wish Emmet health & happiness, & again congrats to the O’Dowd family, Carrowclare.

Achonry Site: A significant element of the premises at Achonry is vacant & the Local Enterprise Office with Aurivo & others are exploring if the premises could be developed as a food hub or food production facility. While this process is still at an early stage a significant number of brochures have been circulated to potentially interested parties & a number of players in the food industry. The premises could have a significant advantage for food businesses like affordable, flexible terms, good broadband, assistance with distribution channels through Aurivo, designed to meet health & safety requirements. Developing a project like this would represent another asset for Sligo & over time, could contribute hugely to the development of local food businesses & this region. If you require any further info, or have ideas, contacts, etc, please contact Mr John Reilly Head of Enterprise Sligo County Council / Local Enterprise Office, Sligo. Tel 071911 4405 email iohnoreilly@ enterprise. ie
