Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus or Verona Fathers, will visit our parish on the weekend of 22/23 April. Their visit is for two purposes: to strengthen missionary awareness & to raise funds for their missions. They usually preach briefly after the Gospel with a collection after Holy Communion. They will distribute free literature & prayer leaflets which include magazine enrolment forms (the magazine is free). Their official name is Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus or Verona Fathers, since they were founded in Verona (1867) by St Daniel Comboni, the first bishop of Central Africa Vicariate. He also founded the Comboni Missionaries Sisters. They number about 1600 Priests & Brothers. They also have Comboni Lay Missionaries. They come from over 30 nationalities serving in 42 different countries worldwide (Africa, Central & South America, Asia, as well as Europe & N. America). They are engaged in evangelisation & human promotion in many fields: health, education, refugees, justice & peace etc. Almost all their new members are now coming from mission countries. They are based at 8 Clontarf Rd, Dublin 03AK50. They look forward to meeting you the parishioners, confident that the great love of the Irish people for the missions will grow even stronger & that your help & prayers will bring even greater blessings on our parish & on their missions.
