2016 marks the 75th anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Franciscan Friar, at the World War II concentration camp in Auschwitz, Poland. St. Maximilian demonstrated heroic charity by giving his life in place of a fellow prisoner who was about to be executed. St. John Paul II declared St. Maximilian Kolbe the “patron saint of our difficult century,” and a Martyr of Charity.

St. Maximilian Kolbe is the patron saint of prisoners, journalists, families, the pro-life movement and the chemically addicted.

To commemorate this historic anniversary, the Franciscan Friars Conventual of the Our Lady of the Angels Province, in concert with Kolbean institutes and Franciscans worldwide, are pleased to sponsor a pilgrimage of St. Maximilian’s relics.

Please join us as we welcome the relics of St. Maximilian Kolbe to Ireland 1st & 2nd October 2016, Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fairview Strand, Fairview, Dublin 3
