29th Sunday in Ordinary Time 17th Oct: Focus: Christ came to give his life as a ransom for many. – As Jesus reveals that he is the Suffering Servant who must suffer & die, so we, his disciples, can expect to follow him along the road to Calvary. Yet even in light of this painful truth, we have a marvellous hope: the hope that the now glorified Suffering Servant will intercede for us before the throne of God

Pope Francis launched the worldwide “Synodal Journey” last weekend.  The Pope is inviting the worldwide Church to participate in the process.  He wants to hear from dioceses across the world.  We will participate in this process here in our own diocese.  The journey will culminate in Rome in 2023 with the Synod focusing on “Communion, Participation and Mission.” We are invited to mark the beginning of this journey on the weekend of the 16th/17th of October. Bishop Paul will be celebrating the 6pm Vigil in the Cathedral on the 16th to mark this moment.
Synod Prayer:

“We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name. With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts; Teach us the way we must go & how we are to pursue it. We are weak & sinful; do not let us promote disorder. Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions. Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life & not stray from the way of truth & what is right. All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place & time, in the communion of the Father & the Son, forever & ever. Amen”

World Mission Sunday – weekend of 23/24 October

Next weekend we will celebrate World Mission Sunday, the Holy Father's annual appeal to support overseas mission & missionaries. Worryingly, it is in jeopardy. The pandemic means that less of us can physically attend Mass, meaning less offerings in the basket. The implications for overseas missionaries and the communities they serve over the coming months will be devastating. You can help right now. Please donate €4.00 by texting the word 'Mission' to 50300. Alternatively donate at www.missio.ie or call Missio on 01 497 2035. To learn more go to www.missio.ie

The market has a new & unused stall & if anyone has any items for the stall please drop them in to the market. Thank you

Parish Offertory Envelopes 2022

The parish offertory boxes for 2022 are available at the church doors. Sincere thanks to all those who are using the envelopes, these contributions have ensured that the parish has not fallen into financial difficulty. Using the envelopes also facilitates the parish in availing of the Revenue tax-back, which is a great financial benefit for our parish. Your parish envelope contribution is our only source of funding for the running of our parish & the maintenance & upkeep of our two churches & our parish buildings. This income has reduced drastically since the start of Covid 19, & only a fraction of those who contributed could have figures submitted for the Revenue-return for 2020. At this time major work on a new roof for Mullinabreena is planned & will soon be starting. If you require a box of envelopes, please let me know & I will add you to the parish database. Your support is very much appreciated. Thank you.
