The Presentation of the Lord 2nd Feb: Focus: Jesus Christ is the salvation prepared for all nations to see. – The feast of the Presentation of the Lord invites us to celebrate the truth that Christ is the light of all nations, & the long-awaited glory of Israel. As we celebrate God’s presence among us, we are invited to reflect on our calling to bring his redemptive light into our world.

Newman Institute: Professor Salvador Ryan will present a Taster in Theology- Church History Lecture Series 4 entitled ‘Late Medieval Christianity & the Crisis of Authority’ on 3 consecutive Monday nights beginning 10th February. This course examines the story of Christianity from the 13th & 16th century. 7.30pm - 10pm each night with a break for refreshments. Cost €80.

There will be an Open Lecture entitled ‘Pope Francis, Church Reform & the Amazon Synod’. Fr. Gerry O’Hanlon, SJ will explore the recommendation from the Amazon Synod in Rome last October that married men in the region be ordained as priests & that the female diaconate be re-opened. Tubbercurry FRC Rainbows Programme:  Rainbows is a free, listening, peer, group support service that provides support for children from the age of 7, after they have experienced a Parental Separation and or Bereavement. Tubbercurry FRC Rainbows will offer a 9 week listening, group support programme starting on Thurs 30th Jan 6–7pm. Cultural Companions at the Hawk’s Well theatre is a new initiative that aims to create a community of like-minded people to attend theatre events and shows together. TubbercurryFRC: Lifting the Silence on Suicide - Community Event - et's come together to open up the conversation about suicide in our communities in Tubbercurry FRC Tuesday 4th February 7-9pm (door open from 6.30pm). Everyone at some point will be affected by suicide and this public event organised by the Connecting for Life Sligo and Leitrim Implementation group will bring a focus on suicide prevention and how we as individuals and as a community can all help. The public talks will offer guidance on how we can all help prevent suicide, discuss the links between alcohol, substance misuse and suicide, discuss bereavement by suicide and outline the supports, services and training available in our area.

Relax kids – Resilience and Confidence Building Classes for Children and young Teens: Tubbercurry FRC will be offer classes to 6-10 year olds and 11-14 year olds starting Wednesday February 5th for six weeks and will cost €20. Monster Emotions for 6-10yrs: 4.15pm-5.15pm covering the major emotions that can be overwhelming to children; Fear, Worry, Anger, Sadness. This theme attaches a friendly monster to each emotion and encourages children to 'make friends with it', sessions cover the things that can trigger these feelings, how we react and how we can deal them. Confidence Bootcamp 11-14yrs: 5.30pm-6.30pm. Looking at how we are all unique and special and the aspects that contribute to confidence such as resilience and bravery. Children will learn fantastic ways to feel happy, peaceful, calm and confident. Active Hope Workshop with Kathryn McCabe: How can we be active in the current climate crisis, & keep hope alive for ourselves & others? You are invited to an evening workshop which will explore our inner resources for resilience & connection to other people & our world. Through a series of activities drawing on Joanna Macy's Social Ecology, Kathryn will help us to explore our own responses to the state of the planet. Banada Tourlestrane Housing Association (BTHA): Supply meals-on-wheels to elderly, the sick, those just returned home from hospital, or others who through circumstances are not able to prepare meals for themselves. The service is daily & can be availed of by calling BTHA office 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday on 071 9181562. Meals are freshly home cooked & consist of a dinner & desert.
