AbbVie employee cycles for charity: Carrowmurray native, Claire Rooney is organising a fundraiser in aid of North West Hospice. She has volunteered to complete the AbbVie Cycle Challenge which entails cycling 250 km over 2 days on 6/7th June. To help with fundraising she has put in place a night of music, song & entertainment at the Mountain Inn Rockfield, Friday 24th May at 8.30pm. The night will feature lots of local talent including the Coolaney Gospel Choir, Karen McKim & the Cloonacool Guitar Club. It promises to be a great night for a very worthy cause. 

First Holy Communion: Congratulations to the children who received their First Holy Communion last weekend. We pray for them & their families; may this moment of special grace sustain them in faith, hope & love. We thank the parents who participated in our parish preparation programme: the principal, teachers & staff of our school & all who supported the children in their preparation for the Sacrament.

The walkway up Knock na Shee is our next project & the Council have just started work on the parking area.

Achonry National School Clothes Collection: On Sat May 25th & Sat June 1st in St Nathy’s Hall from 10am to 12noon each day. So let’s start packing those bags & pass the word on to extended Family, Neighbours & Friends & let’s put in a big effort.

What’s Accepted: All clothing including Bed linen, Towels Curtains, Footwear, Hand Bags, Belts, Soft Toys.

NOT Accepted: Pillows, Duvets, Mats. - Please support.

Parents Association Meeting: The Parents Association of Achonry National School are having a meeting on Wednesday 22nd May in St Nathy’s Hall Mullinabreena at 8 30pm. As this is the last meeting of this School Year we hope all families are represented at the meeting.

Coolaney / Mullinabreena GAA Club: 

Congrats to our Seniors on reaching the Kiernan Cup Final after defeating St Molaise Gaels 3:15- 2:10

The Minor team lost to Geevagh/St.Michael’s in the last round of their League Campaign on Friday.

The U-16 team continues to train in Nace O’Dowd Park after their great win against St. Pat’s last week.

The U-14s had the best performance of the year so far when they came up short against Tourlestrane by 4 points on Thursday night.

Our U-12 team are playing Enniscrone on Tuesday in Enniscrone.

The Club is organising a scrap metal collection on the June bank Holiday Monday 3rd. Nace O’Dowd Park is the drop off point. Can any club members have a look around for any old machinery, batteries, gates etc. This will be a great help to the Club.

The club is still selling signage around Nace O’Dowd Park, if any Local Businesses are interested contact any Member of the Development Committee.

Marie Keating Foundation: Annual Camino trip Sept 7th - 14th. This a journey of a lifetime as we walk the  La Vía de la Plata route to the tomb of St. James in Santiago De Compostela. The cost of the trip is €2,100 pp which will include: Flights, Accommodation, breakfast & evening meal, guide, transfers to & from airport & a 20kg bag which will be transported from hotel to hotel each day. Walk approximately 20km per day, on route to the tomb of St. James in Santiago De Compostela. Delirium Education Session for family/carers of people with Dementia on 22nd & 29th May 7- 9pm in the Coach House Hotel, Ballymote. Banada Tourlestrane Housing Association (BTHA): Supply meals-on-wheels to elderly, the sick, those just returned home from hospital, or others who through circumstances are not able to prepare meals for themselves. The service is daily & can be availed of by calling BTHA office 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday on 071 9181562. Meals are freshly home cooked & consist of a dinner & desert.
