22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time 2nd September: Focus: Jesus, who is the fulfilment of God’s laws & prophets, tells us how to live out God’s commandments. – Today, we think about the best way to live out God’s commandments, passed on to us through Moses, by witnessing God’s blessings & presence in our midst. We can go beyond our human traditions & rituals by washing our hearts & getting rid of evil thoughts & desires. We practice it by caring for all who are vulnerable & in need.

SYMPATHY: We remember in our prayers at this time: Sr Kathleen (Bernard) Dillon, England, member of the Marist Sisters,(sister of Bernie Hosey, Achonry).

May the Souls of the faithful departed rest in peace

Sligo Greenway

Funding: Progress continues on the campaign to have the Sligo Greenway created on the disused line between Collooney & Bellaghy. It now has been agreed with Sligo County Council that they will have a funding application with Government by the upcoming deadline of November 30th, as detailed in the new strategy on greenway development issued by Government in recent weeks. This will put the project in the frame for a share of the €53 million currently on offer for the creation of a greenway network. We will now be making every effort to ensure this application gives itself the best chance of success.

Membership: Our recent appeal for increased membership has been responded to in huge measure with many new shareholders coming on board. Thank you for this enthusiastic & generous response. We suggest you continue to encourage your neighbours, family & friends to come on board as well.

Business Breakfast: We are holding a Business Breakfast on Tuesday 4th Sept in the Yeats County Inn at Curry at 8am. This get-together is to give local businesses a chance to form a support group to add strength to the greenway lobby at this time. If you are a business in the region, & you have not received a direct invitation to the breakfast, feel free to attend regardless. Just let us know you are attending by emailing sligogreenwaycoop@gmail.com
