17th Sunday in Ordinary Time 29th July: Focus: It is not enough to count our blessings – we need to share them. – We have to fight the temptation to “not share” what we have with others for fear there may not be enough for us in the future. Jesus calls us to be more than spectators in the work of salvation. We must be agents of his love & mercy at all times.

Sligo Greenway: Following the recent publication by Government of a new Greenway Strategy, it seems more likely than ever that Sligo will have a greenway in the future. Greenways provide safe, off-road cycle & walking routes, providing a much-needed local amenity & a great tourist attraction. Sligo Greenway Co-op are the local community working with Sligo Co Co to help create the greenway on the disused line; Sligo to Bellaghy. You can help by signing up for Co-op membership at these local outlets: Collooney (McKim’s), Coolaney (O'Grady's & Mountain Inn), Tubbercurry (Computerbits, Laundy Basket, & Coffee Dock), Curry (Yeat’s County Inn), & Charlestown (Market Café). PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION: If you are interested in helping with the identifying of any people in photographs please come along to Ann Marie Gorman’s for an hour or two any day or time to help with names. There are thousands of photos, so help is needed. Please come along & do a little.

TIMBER WANTED: As some of you may know John & Val Bailey have kindly given the Community Enhancement space in their poly tunnel. Tables & potting boxes will be made up very soon so we are asking for any pieces of suitable timber (without nails) you may have in your shed/house that you won’t be needing. All produce grown will be passed around to the different areas in the parish. Please have a look & drop timber off to Baileys, Lavagh Village over the next week or so.

Cast of Thousands to lead Global Celebration of Families in Croke Park!

The Festival of Families will be one of the highlights of WMOF2018 & is choreographed as a celebration of family life. It will include national & international performers, hundreds of musicians, dancers, choirs & flag-bearers & features community-based groups & artists. Pope Francis will deliver an address to the families in the stadium & will hear five family testimonies, shared by families from Ireland, Canada, India, Iraq & Africa. The selection of themes & artists featured in the event reflect many of the priorities in the ministry of Pope Francis including homelessness & those on the margins; migrants & refugees; care for our common home & the importance of the family.

Youth 2000 Summer Festival: Cistercian College, Roscrea Thurs 16th to Sun 20th Aug 2018. For young people aged 16-35, an opportunity not to be missed to experience the Catholic faith & meet many new people, with over 1000 young people from all corners of Ireland attending last year.
