20th Sunday in Ordinary Time 20th August: Focus: God offers salvation to all who have faith in him & follow his ways. – The Lord welcomes to the kingdom all who believe in him & follow him. His mercy & love is extended to all. Let us strive not to focus on each other’s differences, but to view others through the eyes of Jesus, & seek to celebrate that we are all children of God by reaching out to one another with love & kindness.

WEDDING BELLS: Congratulations & best wishes to Deirdre Coleman, Carrowrile, & Finbarr O’Reilly, Drumlane, Co. Cavan. Their marriage took place in Mullinabreena on Thursday 17th August.

World Meeting of Families: As part of the preparations for the World Meeting of Families in Dublin in August 2018 the National launch of it will take place during the Annual Novena in Knock Basilica at the 3pm Mass on Monday, 21st August 2017. Families throughout the country are very welcome & encouraged to attend, if possible, & it is hoped that many people from the parishes of our diocese can attend. Twenty six families, one from each diocese, will participate in a special way during the 3pm Mass on 21st August representing families all across the country. Please consider attending. All are most welcome.

Knocknashee Archaeological Dig: Cormac McSparron & Dirk Brandherm (Queen's University Belfast) will present some preliminary results from this year's fieldwork on Knocknashee in a public talk at St. Nathy's Hall on Thursday 24th August, at 9 pm. We were overwhelmed by the public interests in our excavation & hope to see many of the local visitors again on that occasion. We would also like to take this opportunity to once more thank the Royal Irish Academy for their financial support, without which this research would not have been possible.

Cloonacool Church Fundraiser: Swinford Drama Group will present their play The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley (a hilarious 3-Act Comedy by Jimmy Keary) in Cloonacool Comm Centre on Friday 25th at 8pm. All proceeds in aid of Cloonacool Church Renovation Fund. All support will be very much appreciated.

The North West Simon Community wish to thank all those who contributed to the recent church gate collection & to all the helpers at Achonry & Lavagh – a total of €236.82 was collected.

Sligo Leader Partnership Co on behalf of the Digital Skills for Citizens program. Digital Skills for citizens is a basic internet computer class run for people with no or a limited knowledge of the internet. It is a free 10 hour course which takes place over 5 two hourly sessions in centres across Co. Sligo. It is aimed at helping these people to develop their basic internet browsing skills.
