18th Sunday in Ordinary Time 31st July: Focus: Let us seek to store up treasure not in worldly goods, but in what matters most to God. – The time we have on this earth is precious & short. It can be all too easy to fall into the trap of wasting precious time pursuing happiness in the things of the world, which will not endure. Let us seek to grow rich in the things that matter most in God’s eyes & bring us to share in eternal life.

Workshop sessions daily to engage people & provide them with the opportunity to discuss & reflect. The theme is ‘Merciful like the Father’ in keeping with the Jubilee Year of Mercy with a focus on real-life issues & challenges.

A Focus on the Challenges of Everyday Life: Speaking about the appeal of this years’ Novena, Fr. Richard, PP, Knock Shrine said, the following, “People are facing enormous challenges, trying to grapple with daily struggles, financial pressures, as well as juggling family life. We want to look at dealing with the broader issues facing society & ordinary working families. Themes such as social equality, mercy, healing & how we can help one another are just some of the elements drawn from the broader theme of Mercy, what it actually means to us & how we can bring it into our everyday lives.” The Novena will open on Sunday August 14th with Dublin-based businessman & solicitor Mr. Noel Smyth whose talks & workshops entitled ‘God & Mammon-doing the right thing’, will discuss the broader ethical issues involved with business life. Mr. Smyth is the founder of the charity 3T’s (Turn the Tide on Suicide), which was established in 2003 & aims to raise awareness of the issue of suicide through research, intervention & support. The Bishop of Meath, Michael Smith & the Meath Diocesan Pilgrimage will celebrate the 3pm Mass on this day.
